Classical Languages are alive and well at Blakefield! Our Certamen team, coached by Latin teacher Elizabeth Olson, competed in their debut performance on Nov. 15 at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Certamen (Latin for “contest”) is an It’s Academic-type competition centered on rounds of questions about Latin grammar, culture, and mythology. Ms. Olson drafted two teams to compete and our Level III team placed third out of over 15 other teams from across the state. The boys represented the school well and impressed all with their Volvite Equites Volvite (Roll Dons Roll) team shirts. Please congratulate the following students:
