On Wednesday, Sept. 18, varsity cross country captains Sean Duffy ’14 and Tyler Spear ’14 presented a check totaling $1,182 to Ms. Jaclyn Range, Regional Director of Communications and Corporate Relations for Back on My Feet (BoMF), a national non-profit organization that uses running to help the homeless change the way they see themselves, so that they can make real change in their lives including employment and independent living.

As part of the HSXChallenge, for every mile a student ran, he earned a penny to be donated to the campaign. Through individual and combined efforts, the cross country team ended up running a total of 5,000 miles during the 14-week period, raising more money than any other high school involved.

Back on My Feet was formed in 2007 after Founder and CEO Anne Mahlum went on her routine morning run in Philadelphia, and noticed all the homeless people on the street. She decided that if these people exercise they can gain some sense of self-worth that might help them get control over the rest of their lives. Back on My Feet now has chapters nationwide, including Baltimore. For more information about this wonderful non-profit feel free to visit www.backonmyfeet.org
